The Blockchain Association has appointed Summer Mersinger, a current CFTC commissioner, as its new Chief Executive Officer effective June 2. Mersinger, who will depart the Commodity Futures Trading Commission on May 30, brings over two decades of public policy experience, including advisory roles for Senator John Thune.

This leadership transition comes as the crypto industry faces heightened regulatory scrutiny in Washington. Legislative debates over stablecoins, decentralized finance, and broader crypto oversight are intensifying, positioning Mersinger at the helm during a critical juncture for U.S. digital asset policy.
